528 Introduction

Hello, my name is Tori! 

I’m currently enrolled in the Purdue University Online Learning Design & Technology program. I applied for this program to learn more about Instructional Design. In previous years of employment, I was responsible for much of the onboarding process including employee training and new hire orientation, etc. and this is where I found how much I enjoy teaching/training. I also have a background in graphic design and illustration. I’m excited that once completing this program, I can combine the two to enter a field of work that I absolutely enjoy. 

 

Other interesting facts, my husband and I are avid sports fans, we enjoy all sports. Additionally, I like DIY projects and outdoor recreational activities as well (i.e. hiking, riding bikes, etc.)

    Hi Tori!

    I love your Blog! I have found that my degree in Vis Comm/Graphic Design has sure helped me in LDT as well as computer validation and the methodologies I use in CSV have really helped in this LDT program a lot. Looking forward to sharing another class with you this summer!

Speaker #2 - Kim Barnes, Leadership Development Consultant

This week the LDT program had another great speaker share their experience and wisdom. Kim Barnes of Barnes & Conti Associates, Inc. has over 35 years of experience with a background in Special Education then transitioned into the corporate industry.   She spoke to us about “exercising influence” and several aspects surrounding this including the elements of influence, its relationship to neuroscience, aspects involved in influence, the mindset, framework, and tactics when exercising influence.    She stated that  influence  is the process of moving your ideas into action through others and that effective elements of influence include strength, focus, and flexibility.
